The following terms are defined for the purpose of this chapter:

Entity” means any governmental, profit, or nonprofit organization.

Food source” means any substance containing nutrients that can be ingested by a rodent for continued survival, including but not limited to food consumable by humans or food waste, and fish processing waste.

Rodent” means a mammal of the order Rodentia, including but not limited to the Norway or brown rat (Rattus norvegicus Berkenhout), the roof or black rat (Rattus L.), and the house mouse (Mus musclus L.).

Rodent control measures means officially approved traps, poison, and/or boxes to capture and/or eliminate rodents.

Rodent prevention program” means a program approved by the municipality demonstrating the ability of the entity or individual to comply with this Chapter 16.10 CCO by eliminating the risk of rodent access to food sources, providing for rodent monitoring, and employing a trap, sticky-board, bait station program, or other means of systematic eradication.

Rodent signs” means indication of rodent activity, including but not limited to feces, chew marks, odors, tracks, holes, noise, or grease marks.

Structure” means anything that is constructed or erected and located on or under the ground, or attached to something fixed to the ground, including a walled and roofed building.

Vessel” means a craft travelling on water, including any motorized or nonmotorized ship, boat, or barge. [Ord. 21-03 § 2 (Att.), 2021.]
