A. OVERVIEW

1. Description and Purpose The following policy describes overtime pay for the City of Saint Paul (City).

2. Applicability This policy applies to all employees of the City.

3. Failure to Comply Failure to comply with this policy may result in disciplinary action in accordance with any and all disciplinary policies of the City.

B. POLICY AND PROCEDURE

1. Overtime Pay

a. Only non-exempt employees of the City are eligible for overtime pay.

b. Overtime pay at the rate of one and one-half (1 ½) times the employee’s straight time hourly rate of pay shall be paid for all hours worked more than forty (40) hours in a work week.

c. The work week for the calculation of weekly overtime is Monday 12:00 am to Sunday 11:59 pm.

d. All overtime hours must be approved in advance in writing by the employee’s immediate supervisor. The supervisor must certify that the overtime pay is within the approved department annual budget.
