(a) All motorized vehicles shall:

(1) Conform to minimum safety standards as determined by the State of Alaska Department of Public Safety, pursuant to AS 28.05.011. Safety equipment shall include head light, tail light, brake light and turn signals (if factory equipped), functional brakes, functional muffler or sound suppresser.

(b) All recreational vehicles operated within the Townsite shall:

(1) Have an operational headlamp with the beam aimed and of sufficient intensity to reveal persons and vehicles at a distance of at least 100 feet ahead if operating one-half hour before dusk and one-half hour after dawn;

(2) At least one rear lamp exhibiting a red light plainly visible from a distance of 500 feet to the rear that shall be on if operating one-half hour before dusk and one-half hour after dawn;

(3) Functional brakes able to control the movement of and to stop and hold the vehicle; and

(4) A current registration for snowmobiles as required under AS 28.39.010. [Ord. 21-05 § 2 (Att.), 2021.]
