(a) Every water craft shall carry at least one life preserver, life belt, or other personal floatation device of the sort approved by the United States Coast Guard for each person on board, so placed as to be readily accessible.

(b) Every motor-driven water craft shall carry, in appropriate fuel tanks or containers, sufficient fuel.

(c) Operating any water craft while under the influence of alcohol or in a negligent manner which endangers life, limb, or property is prohibited.

(d) It is unlawful for any person under the age of 16 to operate a motor-driven water craft unless under the supervision of an adult.

(e) At least one pair of oars and oar locks shall always be carried with and securely fastened to any water craft.

(f) It is unlawful to operate any water craft which is inherently unsafe or generally unseaworthy.

(g) When, as the result of a boating accident, injury to persons or property, or a loss of life occurs, a boating accident report must be filed as soon as possible with the nearest U.S. Coast Guard or State authority.

(h) Failure to comply with any of the above requirements is a City offense and is punishable as set forth in CCO 9.05.020.

(i) The boating safety ordinance codified in this chapter shall be publicly posted in at least two places including at the municipal dock. [Code 1979 § 8.5.]
